Student Project
(Institutional Research & Academic Career Development Award)
This student project worked with the department of Biomedical Engineering as a client, developing an original visual Identity for the annual IRACDA Conference. IRACDA has four main learning pillars that help dictate the flow of the conference; Research, Teaching, Diversity, and Mentoring. My approach paired for each of the IRACDA learning pillars with each season. I then developed recognizable iconography and color scheme based on Michigan flora and fauna to help Fellows, Staff and other participants maneuver the conference’s interface.
This Postdoctorate fellowship conference was held in Ann Arbor, MI, during the summer of 2019.

The phrase “The Great State of Michigan” was a key influence for my logo. I wanted the lettering to feel strong and grounded while retaining a geometric yet breathable quality. The letters are meant to feel as though air swiftly moves through the negative space. The Conference focuses heavily on post-doctorate students creating relationships and networking with professors and well established Biomedical Engineers. Utilizing this idea literally - I made a point to create visual relationships between each letter to emulate this fundamental aspect of the event.
