Duderstadt Center
Way-Finding System
An original way-finding system for University of Michigan’s, Duderstadt Center.
This rebrand creates a unified aesthetic that brings the entire facility together. After four years of walking this building, I was always turned around by the convoluted and confusing layout. By recognizing the specific problems I saw with the Duderstadt signage (lack of cohesiveness and organization, small size, poor placement), I was able to tackle this project as the user and as the designer. I felt it was important to create a color coded system that could be immediately recognizable to help all students, faculty, and guests. Using the structural typeface, Gotham, unique iconography, intentional color scheme and typographic elements, each design choice was made to emulate the building’s strong architecture, thus creating a cohesive signage system.
